About this service:
The Nottingham Macmillan Information and Support Centre provides a free and confidential drop-in service for anyone affected by cancer. The service is staffed by a Macmillan Cancer Information Specialist and Officer and a team of Macmillan volunteers who can provide information and support at any stage of a cancer journey, including:
- One to one emotional support
- Benefit and Financial advice including accessing grants
- Advice about specific cancers, treatments and side effects
- Advice about travel insurance and holidays
- Information and support to help you talk to loved ones including children
- Support for families who have lost a loved one to cancer.
We can talk about any concerns the individual may be having and aim to answer any question. We also provide a comprehensive signposting service, ensuring that the correct support is offered and accessed for the individual.
The Macmillan Information and Support Centre has also teamed up with TrendCo to provide help and support to anyone who has lost their hair as part of their treatment and currently run an Alternative Hair Loss Clinic every Friday 2pm until 4pm. Based at the QMC Macmillan Information and Support Centre the clinic aims to provide help and support to those affected by hair loss and offers a wig fitting clinic as well as an exclusive headwear collection and general scalp care. No appointment is necessary.
